Simon Stockley would like the following issues to be considered in the Budget speech this year:
- Increasing the exemption on transfer duty to R1 million,
- Abolishing the attorneys' conveyancing monopoly, and
- Granting tax relief for mortgage payments.
These, he feels, will help South Africans enter the property market, by improving efficiency, lowering transfer costs and stimulating confidence in the sector which will encourage home ownership - which is one way to entrench the middle class.
